Graduate Teacher Programme (GTP)
The Graduate Teacher Programme leads to the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a continuing professional development portfolio.
In the majority of cases the programme will take one year.
Registered Teacher Programme (RTP)
The Registered Teacher Programme offers Trainees the opportunity to train in a school to obtain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and earn a salary as an unqualified teacher, whilst completing their degree. Applicants must already have completed at least two years in higher education (e.g. an HND or part of a degree) and have a minimum of 240 CAT points towards their degree. This course normally lasts two years.
The EBITE Graduate and Registered Teacher Programme courses are based on:
- Induction for both candidate and school mentor
- Mentor support in the School
- Materials provided by the Robert Owen Group
- Central and hub based General Professional Studies (GPS) sessions
- Central and hub based training in subject areas
- Tutor support from the Robert Owen Group
Schools are required to provide a Mentor, who will be the Trainee’s main focus of support in the school. The Mentor will hold meetings with the Trainee to discuss their progress and development on a regular basis. Area Professional Tutors and Subject Advisers from the Robert Owen Group will also provide support to the Trainee and the Mentor.
