TDA Train to Teach Fair - March 2010
A busy two days was spent at the TDA Train to Teach regional event in Birmingham last week. The event was a great success, with people interested in training to teach coming along to talk to the TDA and to regional providers about opportunities to train. The Robert Owen Group was well represented with three members of staff on each day, plus three Trainee Teacher Ambassadors. Staff and Trainees did a great job in talking to people about training, many approaching us with a variety of different circumstances and needs, but all enthusiastic about becoming a teacher.
The presence of the Trainee Ambassadors gave people a great opportunity to find out what its really like to train to teach and gain some insight into being on our courses. The Trainee Ambassadors found it a rewarding experience, being able to think about what they would have liked to know before they trained and being able to encourage others with their enthusiasm to teach.
We estimate that we spoke to over 200 people at our stand throughout both days. It was a very busy couple of days for all involved, but it was great to see so many people interested in training to teach and to see how it has become a popular career choice for graduates and career changers alike.
