The 2010 Co-operative Awards
We are now inviting nominations for the 2010 Robert Owen Group Co-operative Awards.
The Co-operative Awards are annual awards, presented to individuals and organisations who have publicly upheld the co-operative values and principles and supported the Robert Owen Group.
We have seven categories of award and we are inviting nominations for each from members, customers, trainee teachers, and staff. The categories are:
- Co-operative Champions
- Co-operative Establishment
- Co-operative Trade Unionist
- Co-operative Entrepreneur
- Co-operative Trainee Teacher
- Co-operative Mentor
- Co-operative Employee
The seven awards have the following common criteria:
- The nominee has championed the interests of the Robert Owen Group either now or at a past time in the development of the Group
- The nominee has publicly upheld the Co-operative Values and Principles
- The nominee has shown that s/he is prepared to go the extra mile to support the Group’s activities and make their communities better places in which to live.
As well as the above criteria, individual awards also have the following specific criteria:
The Robert Owen Group Co-operative Champions:
The nominee is an outstanding and inspirational co-operator committed to human and social development
The Robert Owen Group Co-operative Establishments:
The nominee is an outstanding and inspirational co-operative establishment committed to human and social development.
The Robert Owen Group Co-operative Trade Unionist:
The nominee is an outstanding and inspirational co-operative trade unionist committed to human and social development through co-operation.
The Robert Owen Group Co-operative Entrepreneur:
The nominee is an outstanding and inspirational co-operative entrepreneur committed to sound business development alongside human and social development through co-operation;
The nominee has an established co-operative business track record.
The Robert Owen Group Co-operative Trainee Teacher
The nominee has worked hard during their year of professional training to support interests of the Robert Owen Group in our partner schools;
The nominee is an outstanding and inspirational co-operator commited to sound teaching and learning development through co-operative activities in their placement schools/colleges;
The nominee has an established co-operative teaching and curriculum track record with evidence.
The Robert Owen Group Co-operative Mentor
The nominee is supportive of trainee teachers, understands their needs and is proactive in training;
The nominee models good practice and understands the training programme thoroughly;
The nominee upholds the co-operative values and principles in their work, being a role model to colleagues, pupils/students and trainee teachers;
The nominee maintains good links with the central team, attending meetings and training sessions.
The Robert Owen Group Co-operative Employee
The nominee has visibly tried to apply co-operative values and principles to their everyday lives and in their work for the Robert Owen Group;
The nominee has contributed most to the delivery of co-operative values and principles in our work.
A reminder that the co-operative principles and values that all co-operatives and co-operators across the world sign up to are: democracy; equality; equity; solidarity; honesty; openness; social responsibility; caring for others; self help and self responsibility.
An Awards Committee has been established to discuss all nominations and awards will be approved by the President’s Committee and the Robert Owen Society/Foundation Board of Directors/Trustees.
The awards are presented at our annual Graduation and Awards Evening, this year being planned for October.
