Higher Education Centre provides boost to Town and County

On the 14th December David Sanders, Interim Head of Children’s Services at Herefordshire Council, officially opened the Robert Owen Centre for Higher Education in Bromyard. The Centre, based at the Queen Elizabeth Humanities College in the town, is run by the Robert Owen Group to deliver their postgraduate teacher training courses.

Councillor John Stone, Chairman of Herefordshire Council, and Councillor Jamie Jacobsen, Mayor of Bromyard, were also in attendance at the event to hear about the Centre, the future plans of the Robert Owen Group and to talk about the positive impact the Centre is having on Bromyard town and the wider county.

In unveiling the commemorative plaque, David Sanders commented on the commitment and significant contribution that the Robert Owen Group has made to schools, teachers and young people in the county.

Speaking at the event, Chris Morgan, President of the Robert Owen Group said,

“This is a landmark day and is the product of fifteen years of partnership working with Herefordshire Council. The Robert Owen Group is now the largest provider of post graduate education on the Welsh border with over 300 post-graduate students in training across the West Midlands. We are delighted to see the positive impact that the Centre is having on the town and the county.”

Bromyard now has quite a number of co-operatives within the town, including the two Co-operative stores; a Co-operative Group funeral business; the newly formed Education for Bromyard Co-operative Schools Trust and the Robert Owen Centre for Higher Education.
