Hello. We are the Robert Owen Group
and we support sustainable communities...

Developing sustainable communities in our rural region

As a not for profit organisation the Robert Owen Group puts any surplus it generates back into the community for growth and development in both the UK and overseas.

We recognise the importance of local communities and the importance of the local school in maintaining and developing communities. We have undertaken a number of projects looking at solutions and activities to bring the school and community together.

We also see the value in social enterprise and social enterprise education. We have undertaken various projects with schools and communities in promoting social enterprise both in the UK and abroad.

The Robert Owen Group aims to promote the creation of school centred and sustainable communities which help to regenerate the local area and encourage local enterprise.

Project LeAD

The Robert Owen Group is currently working with Project LeAD, the Leominster Anaerobic Digester Project.

Project LeAD aims to create an Anaerobic Digester suitable for processing biomass from agriculture such as grass and grass silage, food processing waste, cider-making waste, and food waste from schools, hospitals, pubs and restaurants, thus producing biogas.

The biogas will be used to produce electricity and also heat, which could be piped to Leominster’s hospital, schools and leisure centre, reducing their heating bills and lowering the town’s carbon footprint.

Project LeAD is a community project that encourages co-operative action within the local community, an ethical and local opportunity for investment, a reduction of carbon emissions, and a community fund for local projects.

More information about Project LeAD and how you can get involved is available on the Share Energy website
