Membership of the Robert Owen Group...

The Bishop of Hereford's Bluecoat School

The Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School has been involved with the then Marches Consortium School Based Initial Teacher Training since it began to lay its ‘foundation stones’ during the 1990s with former Headteacher, Andrew Marson being a Director and supporter of all initial arrangements.

Since 2000, The Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School has been a Training School.  It is with great pleasure that we ensure full support to the Robert Owen Family by:

  • Taking the maximum amount of PGCE trainees each year.
  • Supporting all routes to teaching, to include GTP and overseas trainees.
  • Offering taster/support courses for future trainees.
  • Contributing to Subject Pathway/Central Sessions.
  • Producing a Training School weblink to compliment and support the work of the Robert Owen Group.

All trainees who are with us report their experiences to be outstanding and departments who take trainees report that there is a significant enhancement to teaching, learning, cross curricular, extra curricular experiences within the organisation.

Trainees come with a wealth of knowledge and experience and from all walks of life which contributes to the enriching experience.

The Training School ‘brochure’ forms the ‘home page’ of our weblink www.bhbs.hereford.sch.uk (then follow link to ‘Training School’).  Please take a look at it to find out what trainees say about their experiences with us.

This is an opportunity for me to thank everyone involved in the Robert Owen Family and the staff in school who work tirelessly to ensure our unique system of strong teachers is efficient and life enhancing.

Carol Rushton,

Assistant Head, Staffing & I.T.T.
